How to set up LUXY profile (NFC Tool edition)

Here's a guide on how to change your LUXY profile. First of all, LUXY is programmable (premium grade and above) and has reasonable memory limits. Holding an amount of 144 bytes of information within the card, the information is stored without power and can be overwritten at any time if the user wants to change its contents. Conversely, you can use another feature of the NFC tool to permanently lock the contents of LUXY, which may be ideal for business or public environments.

NFC Tools is a mobile application for iOS and Android. You can download both free and pro versions from each platform's App Store. NFC Tools is a recipient of the NFC Forum Innovation Award.

Here we will show you how to program LUXY in 7 easy steps that take about 45 seconds total. NFC Tools is a free app available to everyone on the Apple and Android App Stores.

NFC tools setting method URL input

In this step you will see many options for coding to LUXY. The recommended option is to click on "Custom URL/URI". Please proceed to the next step. Note 1
Most of the other options do not work with current smartphones. Note 2

Note 1: Not all options are compatible with all smartphones. For example, any smartphone can encode Wifi information into an NFC tag, but currently only Android phones can read Wifi information, not iPhones.
Note 2: LUXY holds 144 bytes of data, which roughly equates to 36 characters of text. Free contact card sites like LinkTree and Litlink generate one small link linking all contact information on your website, which can take up too much tag memory. You can be more flexible than adding all your contact information to the Contacts tab.

NFC Tools App URL Homepage address input

Please only use "Custom URL" so that NFC tags work everywhere. Do not use the contact option**.

If you want to create a contact card, first follow these steps: Click "Custom URL/URI" to display this page.

NFC Tools App Website Setting Instructions URL

Copy/paste the web address with https://. When finished, click OK in the top right corner. When copying/pasting, please be careful not to accidentally insert spaces before or after the link, as this will result in an error.

Note: On this page you can add any link that works on the Internet.

Below is an example.

It can be used for websites, Instagram, X, Litlink, Link Tree, SoundCloud, Youtube videos/channels, Venmo, PayPal, photo/album links, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, restaurant menus, and more.

After clicking OK, you will be redirected to this page where your custom URL will be added. The app will tell you the amount of space used (19 bytes in this case) by entering the link. The capacity must be 256 bytes or less.

**Note: Smartphones can only understand one link, so adding multiple items here will not work. To get the most out of NFC tags, you can create a personal landing page with unlimited links and contact cards for free. When you click "Burn", you will see an NFC "Ready to scan" message.

How to set up NFC Tools app
iPhone NFC reading position

In the image above, the smartphone is looking for LUXY to write to. For iPhone, hold the top of your phone within 2.5cm of LUXY while this message is displayed. For Android, place the center of your phone on top of LUXY. Once the NFC tag is officially written, your smartphone will emit a sound or vibration. If red text appears, please try again.

NFC Tools app writing

A check mark will appear when writing is complete. The writing process is now complete! You can test whether it can be read by bringing your smartphone close to LUXY. Your smartphone will automatically receive the information you wrote in a drop-down notification. In that case, you don't need an app to read LUXY. Compatible mobile phones will read LUXY within 7cm as long as the screen is on. For smartphones, scanning often takes 1 to 2 seconds. Some Android phones may require you to turn on "NFC" in the settings.

If you want to program another link into LUXY, repeat this step to overwrite the previous link.

For iPhone: For iPhone: LUXY is best placed near the center or bottom of the back of your phone. The NFC reader is located on the back of the iPhone from the center to the top.
For Android Most Androids have an NFC reader located in the center back of the phone.
